Italian Heritage Days
Held annually at Red Gate Park typically the 3rd weekend in August, but varies depending on availability of priest.

Friday Night Downtown Park'n
Third Friday each month in summer - sponsored by Oelwein Odd Rods Club. Car enthusiasts welcome to park 6:00-10:00 p.m. and enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for vintage cars. Complete with hot rods, door prizes, DJs. No charge for car owners or spectators. (Quote: "...it is different each time. It is a nice Friday night out and we can see some of the cars we grew up with..." --R.G.)
Daddy Daughter Dance
Held annually the first Saturday in May in the Oelwein Community Plaza. All girls between preschool and 5th grade are invited to attend with their dad, grandpa, uncle, etc. A grand march has been added to the event and held in the Oelwein Mealsite in the North end of the Oelwein Plaza to allow mom, grandma and others to watch as the girls and their escort walk to the stage and get presented to the audience.
Mommy Son Hoedown
Held annually the first Saturday in October in the Oelwein Community Plaza. All boys between preschool and 5th grade are invited to attend with their mom, grandma, aunt, sister or any special lady in their life! DJ music, rootbeer floats, cookies and treats and a gift for every boy will add to the fun of the evening!
Party in the Park Summer Series
Held the 2nd Thursday of June, July, August and September in Plaza Park on West Charles 5-8 pm. Live local entertainment, food vendors, door prize drawings, kids activities and games. Beverage garden available. Free admission. Limited picnic table seating available. Bring a lawn chair and stay all evening.
Held in October, this event has vendors, a BBQ Contest and live music! Held in downtown Oelwein, this event was brought back by popular demand, to the event line-up after a couple years off!
Olde Tyme Christmas
Held annually the first Friday evening of December. Santa arrives in Oelwein! Activities include pictures with Santa, strolling carolers, Festival of Trees, Festival of Wreaths silent auction, Grinch contest, carriage rides, Business window contest, a holiday market and craft show at the Plaza, Life-size Candy Land Game, Kid's Tattoos, Lighted Parade, Fireworks and more! Something new added each year! Stores will be open for holiday shoppers! Mark it on your calendar to attend each year!
Lovelights Lighting Ceremony
First Sunday in December at Mercy Hospital. Sponsored by Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Oelwein City Park and Campground. City Park offers boating, fishing, trails, playground equipment, and picnic area. Modern site (electricity, water and AC) is $12 per day or $70 per week.
