Breaking Ground
"With the Regional Academy for Math and Science nearing completion next door, Oelwein is poised to increase local industry and increase economic growth, " said Mayor Larry Murphy. For more information on this and other Off-Shore Iowa projects visit www.off-shoreiowa.com.
The OCAD Board is showing the Tyson Building, space in our Industrial Park, and more. We are ready to show the great assets that Oelwein has to offer.
The Midwest work ethic and quality of life are among the strong points of Oelwein. Quality schools, housing in all price ranges, modern hospital, 11 city parks, wide variety of recreation opportunities, and a productive, educated work force. They're all here in Oelwein... but there's something more.
It's pride. It's pride that inspired the Chicago Great Western Railroad to make Oelwein the "Hub City" of the Midwest. Pride drove Walter P. Chrysler to build his first car here. Pride drives the transportation options, retail offerings and progressive attitudes that continue to make Oelwein "the Hub of Northeast Iowa."
Regional Academy for Math and Science (RAMS)
A leap forward in the technical training of our workforce
A Regional Academy for Math and Science (RAMS) is a vision becoming a reality in Oelwein. The Educational Partnership between Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) and Northeast Iowa Area High Schools will offer new opportunities for traditional and nontraditional students. Groundbreaking will take place in May for the building shown here. Visit RAMS website to learn more.
Downtown Revitilization
Investment in our downtown infrastructure is at the heartbeat of our community initiatives. New streets and sidewalks with attractive greenery and streetlamps were just the beginning. OCAD has contracted with the Iowa Downtown Resource Center of the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) to conduct a Downtown Assessment. The assessment, recently completed, will be an important guide in the development of improvements and investments in our community, particularly in the downtown business area.
