Donaldson Building full again!...
The former Donaldson building is being purchased by Sector 5 Technologies, Inc., which will make large components for wind turbines. Sector 5 will also retain the leases for Wilbert Vault and East Penn Manufacturing, the other two companies that are housed in the plant. East Penn will use a section of the building as a warehouse for the high-quality batteries they manufacture at their headquarters in Pennsylvania. They plan to add 35 jobs in Oelwein, averaging $20 per hour.
The nearly $3 million investment in the new Sector 5 industry is expected to create 99 jobs, 98 of the jobs paying an average wage of $23.89 per hour. The Economic Development Board awarded the new company $297,000 from Community Economic Betterment Account (CEBA) to begin operations in the 161,000 sq. ft. building. Enterprise Zone tax benefits were also awarded.
Sector 5 is planning future diversification into components for the biofuels, food and pharmaceutical industries.
